Overview

This documentation describes the registration and management of domains as a standalone product in the customer portal.

A note on terminology

This section covers registering a domain (nameservers, contacts, glue records, DNSSEC, transfer). Assigning an already-registered domain to a hosting package (web space) is described under Hosting -> Domains. Managing a domain's DNS records happens in the DNS section.

Contents

Scope

You can access your registered domains in the customer portal via the Domain menu item in the Products section.

The overview lists all domains with Name, Team and Product. Open a domain to see its detail view with the following sub-sections:

  • Overview – registration data, transfer lock, assigned contacts and nameservers
  • Edit – transfer to another team, delete the domain
  • Nameservers
  • Contacts
  • Glue records
  • DNSSEC
  • Transfer – toggle the transfer lock, retrieve the auth code

Domain overview

A domain's overview page shows, among other things:

  • Registered until – the registration's expiration date
  • Transfer lock – whether the domain is locked against a transfer to another provider
  • the assigned contacts (owner, admin, technical, billing)
  • the assigned nameservers

If a domain is currently being transferred to us, a notice is shown instead, indicating the transfer is in progress and may take a few days; check your email inbox for a WHOIS confirmation message in that case.

Usage notes

Changes to nameservers, glue records or DNSSEC records take effect immediately and directly affect the domain's reachability. Only make these changes if you understand their meaning, and carefully review your input before saving.
