Overview
This documentation describes how to manage email addresses within a hosting package in the customer portal.
An email address defines which address exists for a domain and how incoming messages are handled: forwarded to another address, caught by a catch-all for the whole domain, and/or delivered to its own mailbox (email account) that can be accessed via IMAP or webmail.
Contents
- Creating an email address
- Managing an email address – forwarding, catch-all and mailbox password
- Deleting an email address
- Setting up email clients – IMAP/SMTP credentials for email clients and mobile devices
Scope
You can access the email addresses of a hosting package via:
Hosting -> [your hosting package] -> Emails
The overview lists all email addresses with Email, Description, Catch-All, IMAP (whether a mailbox is set up) and used Quota.
Terminology
- Email address: the entry itself (e.g.
info@your-domain.com), managed under Emails - Destination / forwarding: one or more addresses incoming messages are forwarded to
- Catch-All: the address also receives all messages sent to non-existent addresses on the same domain
- Email account: a standalone mailbox with its own password that can be accessed via IMAP or webmail
Usage notes
Before changing an existing email address, always check whether it is still actively used. Be especially careful when changing credentials or deleting an email address, since these actions can affect connected devices, applications and user accounts.
