Ordering Object Storage ​

This process orders a new Object Storage bucket.

Prerequisites ​

Before ordering, check:

  • which storage quota (plan) is needed
  • which name to use for the bucket

Step-by-step guide ​

1. Sign in to the customer portal ​

Sign in with your account in the customer portal.

2. Start the order ​

Open Object Storage in the main menu and click Order product at the top right.

3. Fill in the details ​

Enter the following:

  • Plan – the desired storage quota (required)
  • Name – the name of the Object Storage instance; it's also used as the bucket name and as the username for S3 access (required, must be unique, max 255 characters)

Note

The location is assigned automatically when ordering and can't be selected.

4. Complete the order ​

Finish the order process.

Result ​

Once the order is complete, the bucket is set up automatically.

Warning

The credentials (access key and secret access key) are sent once by email. Save that email in a safe place immediately – it can't be viewed again later in the customer portal.

Follow-up checks ​

After ordering, check:

  • that the credentials email has arrived
  • that the Object Storage appears in the overview and the URL is shown correctly
  • that you can connect using an S3-compatible tool (e.g. rclone, Cyberduck, s3cmd) with the URL, access key and secret access key

Common issues ​

Object Storage can't be ordered ​

Possible causes:

  • the chosen name is already taken
  • the name exceeds the maximum length of 255 characters

Credentials email not received ​

Possible causes:

  • the email is in the spam folder
  • the wrong email address is saved on the customer account

In this case, contact our support team, since the credentials can't be retrieved again through the customer portal.
