Removing a domain

This process removes a domain from a hosting package.

Warning

Once a domain is removed, the website behind it is no longer reachable under that domain. Files in the web space are not affected, but the domain assignment is removed.

Prerequisites

Before removing a domain, check:

• that the correct domain is selected
• whether it is still actively used for a website or email addresses
• whether the associated DNS zone also needs to be adjusted

Step-by-step guide

1. Sign in to the customer portal

Sign in with your account in the customer portal.

2. Open the domains section

Open the desired hosting package and navigate to:

Domains

3. Select the domain

Find the domain you want to remove in the list.

4. Start the deletion

Click Delete on the right side of the row.

5. Confirm the security prompt

Carefully check that the correct domain is selected, then confirm the deletion.

Follow-up checks

After removing, check:

• that the domain no longer appears in the overview
• whether email addresses set up under this domain are still needed
• whether the associated DNS zone needs to be adjusted

Common issues

Wrong domain removed

Possible cause:

• the domain was not clearly verified before confirming

Email addresses on the domain stop working

Possible cause:

• the domain was removed while active email addresses still depended on it
