Adding a domain
This process adds a new domain to a hosting package as a web-space domain.
Prerequisites
Before adding a domain, check:
- that the domain is already registered and its nameservers point to our DNS servers (see DNS)
- whether the domain is already assigned to another hosting package
- whether SSL via Let's Encrypt should be used
Step-by-step guide
1. Sign in to the customer portal
Sign in with your account in the customer portal.
2. Open the domains section
Open the desired hosting package and navigate to:
Domains
3. Add a new domain
Click Create Domain in the top right corner.
4. Enter the details
Fill in the required information:
- Domain – the full domain name (required)
- Description (optional)
- Server Alias – a technical option that is usually not needed; leave empty if unsure
- Let's Encrypt – enabled by default, provides an automatic SSL certificate
5. Review your input
Before saving, check in particular:
- that the domain name is spelled correctly
- whether Let's Encrypt should remain enabled
6. Create the domain
Click Create.
Result
The domain then appears in the Domains overview. Further settings such as document root or SSL redirect can be adjusted afterwards via Managing a domain.
Follow-up checks
After adding the domain, check:
- that it appears correctly in the overview
- that the domain's nameservers point to our DNS servers
- that a valid SSL certificate is issued after a short time (if Let's Encrypt is enabled)
