Deleting a server ​

This process permanently deletes an existing vServer.

Warning

Deleting a server irrevocably removes the server and all data on it, including its backups and snapshots. Carefully check beforehand whether the server is still needed.

Prerequisites ​

Before deleting, check:

  • that the correct server was selected
  • whether the server is still used by applications or websites
  • that any needed data has been backed up beforehand

Step-by-step guide ​

1. Sign in to the customer portal ​

Sign in with your account in the customer portal.

2. Open the server list ​

Open Server in the main menu.

3. Select the server ​

Check the checkbox of the server to delete in the list.

Note

Unlike other products, there's no delete action on a server's detail page. Deletion only happens from the server list.

4. Start the deletion ​

Click Delete in the toolbar above the list.

5. Confirm the prompt ​

Carefully check that the correct server was selected, then confirm the deletion.

Follow-up checks ​

After deleting, check:

  • that the server no longer appears in the overview
  • that dependent DNS records or applications were updated
  • that the deletion was documented internally

Common issues ​

Wrong server deleted ​

Possible cause:

  • the selected server wasn't clearly verified before confirming

Application or website unreachable after deletion ​

Possible cause:

  • the deleted server was still actively in use
